What You Need to Know About the New Hyundai IONIQ Brand
Hyundai has embraced the future of the automotive industry and now offers several hybrid and all-electric models. Some of these are electrified versions of popular vehicles, like the Hyundai Tucson, which now offers gasoline, hybrid, and plug-in hybrid models. But when you see a Hyundai Ioniq for sale, you can tell just from looking at the exterior that this is something entirely new. The Ioniq lineup was built from the ground up to be all-electric, and that gives these models some unique advantages.
We’re proud to offer Ioniq models here at River City Hyundai. We believe that drivers will fall in love with these wonderful vehicles once they get to know them. But since the Ioniq lineup is not based on already familiar nameplates, they require more of an introduction. So today, we’re going to let you know what these EVs have to offer.
Futuristic Styling
Ioniq vehicles don’t look like anything else on the road. With their chiselled bodies and pixel LED headlights and taillights, they look like they’d fit right in on the set of a science fiction movie. Even their wheels feature eye-catching fractal designs that look almost out of this world. This singular sense of style makes it clear to passers-by that the Ioniq models are cutting-edge and high-tech. Their unique looks also have some practical advantages, like improving aerodynamics and making it easy to find your vehicle at a glance in a crowded parking lot.
Innovative Interiors
Step inside an Ioniq vehicle, and you’ll find an innovative interior that matches the futuristic feel of the exterior. Digital displays make it easy to control and keep track of vehicle settings and safety warnings, while Apple CarPlay and Android Auto let you hook up your smartphone and use all of your favourite navigation and entertainment apps through the Ioniq’s interface. You can charge your devices using USB ports or a wireless charging pad. For larger electronics, like laptops, you can use the innovative V2L feature. This incorporates a household power outlet into the vehicle’s interior and lets you use the battery’s stored electricity for various applications.
Like the pixel lights on the outside, lighting plays an important role in the interior. Four small lights on the steering wheel change colour to indicate different driving modes and let you know at a glance whether you’re in Eco Mode, Sport Mode, or Normal Mode. They also play welcome and goodbye sequences and respond to voice commands. Plus, four dots spell out "H" for Hyundai in Morse Code! Dual-zone 64-colour ambient lighting lets you set the mood inside the cabin and can be synchronized to your speed for a dynamic feel.
Ioniq 5
Named World Car of the Year for 2022 by the World Car Awards, the Ioniq 5 is an all-electric SUV that has plenty to offer drivers. With the available 77.4 kWh battery, you can get up to 488 km of driving range, and thanks to DC ultra-rapid charging, you can recharge it quickly. The battery can be charged from 10% to 80% in just 18 minutes, and even a quick five-minute charge can get you an extra 100 km of driving range.
For winter weather, the Ioniq 5 offers available HTRAC all-wheel drive with Snow Mode for optimal traction on slippery roads. There’s also a standard heat pump to reduce loss of range during cold weather. This feature absorbs external heat and converts it into cabin heating, making it far more efficient than traditional resistive heating HVAC systems. Additionally, a battery temperature management system pre-warms the battery while it charges for optimal cold-weather performance.
The interior is easy to reconfigure to meet your needs, making it one of the most comfortable electric vehicles for sale today. A sliding center console can give you extra room up front and lets you change the position of the cup holders. The rear row of seating has a 60/40 split, so you can create a perfect balance between passenger space and cargo volume. With the available augmented reality head-up display, you can choose to project key information directly onto the lower windshield, giving you another way to check your speed, warnings, and directions in addition to the digital instrument cluster.
Ioniq 6
The Ioniq 6 is a sleek sedan that’s perfect for commuters or driving enthusiasts who prefer a road-hugging car over an SUV. It was named the World Car of the Year for 2023, and it’s easy to see why looking at its aerodynamic shape and wide range of useful features. Because it’s more lightweight and aerodynamic, the 2023 Ioniq 6 can travel even further than the 2023 Ioniq 5, offering up to 581 km of estimated range. It can also recharge from 10% to 80% in as little as 18 minutes at DC fast charging stations.
The Ioniq 6 is available with HTRAC AWD and Snow Mode for optimal traction on wet or icy roads. On top of that, the car also offers several other driving modes for various situations. Normal Mode is excellent for everyday driving, Eco Mode conserves power as much as possible, and Sport Mode gives you thrilling driving dynamics. There’s also a Custom Mode that lets you adjust various settings, like power output, acceleration sensitivity, and steering, to suit your personal needs. If you think you’ll miss the sounds of a traditional engine, don’t worry. With Hyundai’s Electric Active Sound Design, you can immerse yourself in the sounds of driving or turn it off for a nice, quiet ride.
You’ll find plenty of comfort and convenience features on both the interior and exterior of the Ioniq 6. The power trunk opens at the push of a button, so it’s easy to access even with your hands full. A standard heated steering wheel keeps your hands warm, while standard heated front seats keep you cozy even on the coldest days. Heated rear seats are also available, as are ventilated front seats to help you beat the summer heat.
Ioniq 7
If you need a bigger vehicle that seats more than five people, then you’ll want to keep an eye out for the upcoming 2024 Ioniq 7. This three-row electric SUV will provide a highly comfortable interior with plenty of room for people and cargo while still having the efficiency and eco-friendliness of a fully electric vehicle.
